NOTE: I’m really grasping at straws here with this article. So please read it with an open mind and take it how you will.
It all begins with Kinect Sports. You’re probably asking yourself right now, “What does Kinect Sports have to do with Banjo-Kazooie”? Well in this instance, it has everything to do with Kinect Sports. Let me explain…
At E3 last year, there was a sizzle reel of upcoming Xbox 360 Kinect games being show. Within that sizzle reel, there was a very brief glimpse of Rare’s Kinect Sports: Ultimate Collection (which would later release in September 2012). Despite the game being shown, there was no announcement from Microsoft and more importantly, no announcement from Rare. I called Rare out on it via Twitter to no avail. They refused to comment. I posted additional evidence of its existence here with it being up for pre-order at GameStop–again, Rare remained silent. This prompted me to write an article (read it here) basically calling out on why Rare and Microsoft were being silent about the game and it receiving no marketing. I pointed out that it actually made sense not to market it, but is that still an excuse? Perhaps not. Either way, once again, this prompted no response from Rare. It wasn’t until the very day that the game released that Rare finally spoke up and admitted the title existed. Hard to deny something when it’s sitting on store shelves, right?

Women going into premature labor (before 37 weeks) will feel pain in the pelvic or lower tummy area, possibly accompanied by backache, viagra without prescription mild tummy cramps and diarrhoea. So what does any of that have to do with Banjo-Kazooie? Well it seems like a similar situation here is potentially playing itself out. If you’ve made any attempts to visit the official Banjo-Kazooie website, then you’ll notice that it isn’t operating properly. In fact, it just appears to load indefinitely, leading to nowhere. And that’s where the Kinect Sports connection kicks in. I’ve personally brought it to Rare’s attention as have others, and just like with the Kinect Sports: Ultimate Collection scenario, they refuse to comment–blissfully opting to ignore our requests for answers. It could mean nothing, but why not address it? Give a reason for why it at the very least just have the site redirect to the official Rare website. It’s awkward.
So my theory is this: Rare could be developing a new Banjo-Kazooie title and they’ve been restructuring the website in preparation for its imminent announcement. Makes sense, yes? That’s as good of a reason as any to remain silent about the website’s downtime. Then again, maybe they don’t say anything because they neither want to nor have to say anything!
This is all, of course, just conjecture. There’s no hard evidence provided here that screams “Banjo-Kazooie is coming back! Yes!”. It’s just too very similar scenarios. The Banjo-Kazooie website being down and Rare refusing to address why are the only facts here. There’s currently nothing else to suggest that there is a new Banjo game being developed. So keep those fingers crossed and maybe, just maybe, there is actually something to this simple theory of mine and we’ll see some more Banjo in the future!
Thank you, this article made me very happy. Any evidence of a new Banjo game will make me spaz out.
