Back in the early 1990s, DIC Entertainment decided to produce and develop a cartoon series based off of Rare’s newly popular Battletoads franchise. The cartoon served as a prequel to the game explaining the origins of the Battletoads and their initial dispute with the villainous Dark Queen.

The plot basically revolved around the Dark Queen wanting to kidnap Princess Angelica for her magical amulet, which prompts Professor T-Bird to search for a group of people worthy to become the new Battletoads. The chosen ones are three high school nerds on planet Earth who think their absolutely worthless. Professor T-Bird and Primcess Angelica magically appear to them when they’re alone at school where T-Bird sprays them with a magical potion that will allow them to not only transform into the Battletoads, but also revert back their human forms at any time. Princess Angelica then dubs them with the names of Rash, Zitz, and Pimple and they are given an explanation that their duty is to protect the princess at all costs

The episode wasn’t really all that bad in my opinion, though it could have certainly been much better. Unfortunately, it’s something we’ll never truly know as it received only a single episode! You can watch the entire episode of the Battletoads cartoon below…

So what do you think? Do you think it was good enough to have received some follow-up episodes or do you agree with the decision to stop with just the one? Share your thoughts in the comments!
